Excerpt:

Elise remembered her words as she lay naked beneath the duvet in Tom’s room.

‘I’m not that desperate.’

How the mighty have fallen. During the evening, combined with the alcohol Elise had imbibed, Lynn’s suggestion had sounded like a good plan. Particularly when Lynn had figured out which room Tom was using. All these things added together with her wish list, landing her lying naked in his bed, waiting for him to make an appearance.

Lynn had helped Elise sneak inside with no one noticing. But so far, there had been no sign of the man himself. What if he’d found another bed to sleep in for the night? It would ruin her plan. Then Elise heard someone grab the handle, and she hid underneath the duvet.

“What the f**k?” a male voice asked.

‘Oops, that wasn’t Tom. But who was it?’ The thick duvet distorted the sound, making it difficult to recognise his voice. Still, there was something weirdly familiar about it. She peeked over the top, trying to make out his face in the half-lit room.

“Elise?” He sounded just as surprised as she felt.

Now, she recognised his voice. Oh my God. Could her luck get any worse than it already had? Her wish list was cursed. She lifted the cover away from her face and confirmed her suspicions.

“Uhm, hi, Callum. What are you doing here?” Elise tried to sound like she knew what she was doing.

He stared at her. “I might ask you the same question. What the hell are you doing in my bed?”

“This isn’t your bed,” Elise said quickly.

“Sure is. This is my room. And my bed.” He nodded toward her.

“Are you sure about that?” Elise knew her question was stupid, but it slipped from her mouth. All too aware that she was completely naked underneath the duvet.

“Of course, I’m sure. And I intend to sleep in it right now.”
