Excerpt
"Damn. You're the luckiest woman I know," Molly's friend and co-worker, Rosie was almost screaming into the phone.
"Turn down the volume, or I'll be deaf as well," Molly said and held her phone further away from her ear.
Her long blond hair got tangled in between, and she wanted to curse just like her friend.
"I mean it." Rosie sounded even more agitated now. "Only you, my friend, could end up in quarantine on a deserted island with Daniel, the hottest man on the planet. You must have struck a deal with the devil to be so lucky. I think I hate you," Rosie pouted humorously.
"Oh, for God's sake, Rosie. Daniel is only into Barbie Belinda. How on earth are the rest of us going to compete with that?"
"Well, Barbie isn't sleeping two doors down from him, is she? Now is your chance so go get him, tiger."
Molly snorted. "Gee, Rosie. You can be so gross sometimes."
"After that trick, she pulled on you last year I'm surprised you're not doing your utmost to avenge yourself."
"I won't lower myself to her levels," Molly said in an angry voice.
"Really, Molly. There are times when turning the other cheek is definitely not the right solution. And this is one of those times."
"Who says I do that?"
"Well, then grab your chance with Daniel."
"So I can seduce her man the way she stole mine? You know that won't solve anything."
"She seduced your fiancé. It's okay to get mad and get even."
"I'm passed that. I've moved on."
"Have you really? When was the last time you dated, Molly?"
"I don't have to date to get over him."
"Is that why you can't even say his name, hon?"
Molly sighed and took a deep breath. Rosie was really too observant sometimes.
"His name is Brad, and I don't care whatsoever what you think, Rosie. I hate men and I'd rather have a dog than a date."
"It sounds more like you need a punching bag," Rosie said.
"I already got one. In my flat."
Rosie laughed." You need one at the research facility too. Isn't there a gym in the basement somewhere?"
"I have no idea. I haven't had the time to check yet."
"Ooh. Too busy ogling that stud you're with?"
Molly sighed again. Then her suspicion skyrocket. This was too much of a coincidence to be real, and particularly when the person arranging the timetables was at the other end of the phone line.
"Whose idea was it to set me up on the same weeks that Daniel was going to be here?"
"It was the only weeks available," Rosie said easily.
"You're lying, Rosie. I can tell."
"Well, why don't you count your blessings and thank me after you get laid?"
"Don't tell me you put condoms into my suitcase as well?"
"Hmm, no. Not in your suitcase."
"That's a relief."
"But you might want to check the microscope case..."
