Their attempt triggered new trends in the world of calculations. From simple numbers to mathematical equations, they invested in a straightforward system they offered gratis on top of the alphabet to the whole world. Numbers and number words were used in writing and on coins which they started to make as early as the sixth century BCE. A lot of what we use today is based on the works of those talented merchant sailors of yore.
