Description

A return to the world of The Cadet Regime. The background is the same.

"Following years of economical turmoil and disunity, the New Government has stepped into the vacuum and established itself as the dominant political party... it was decided that the younger generation should not only suffer for the sins of their parents but must be seen to do so by the public. That was when the Cadet Service was established, mandatory for girls aged 18 and upwards who were connected to the old regime in any way. "

The Grey Channel is the government approved Pay Per View media outlet that records all the various indignities and humiliations that the young women suffer during their term of cadet service. This story concentrates on The Grey Channel, how it works, who it attracts and the reasons for its huge popularity told through the eyes of the owners, the staff, some of the customers who access the various tiers it offers and some of the young women caught up in the cadet system.

In particular it follows how one innocent family is torn apart by a simple error and how 22 year old Madeleine is made to suffer for the sake of prime time television.  It's a chilling example of how corporal punishment and humiliation for often imaginary misbehavior has been monetised by the State as both an entertainment and a warning for its citizens.

A 20k store set slightly into a dystopian future involving humiliation, shame, corporal punishment, uniforms, and the subjugation of the elite, all for the televised enjoyment of the concerned citizens of this great nation. Although it is set in the same universe as The Cadet Regime it can be read as a stand alone story.
