Description

Part of the Hollywood fantasy is "America land of all opportunities" as in "just come here, and your dream will come true". Well, that has not worked out for quite many, and there are lots of (interesting) stories to be told about the "pains and sorrow" of such failed endeavours. The author of this fabulous little novel, Knut Hamsun, tried his luck away from his country, Norway. He failed miserably but he managed to turn his misery, pain and anger into a piece of writing called "Hunger". Ironical enough, this work brought him good fortune and never needed to suffer from hunger again. Try this gem of the psychological genra often regarded as the first great novel of the 20th century. The present translation was made by Mary Chavelita Dunne (under the alias George Egerton). Enjoy!
