Case-Based Respiratory Physiology by Patrick Eggena

Case-Based Respiratory Physiology

By

Description

This 4-hour course in case-based teaching reviews and applies the physiology students have learned in their lectures on the respiratory system and integrates this information with the physiology of the cardiovascular system, kidneys, and other organ systems. In the first hour a woman has an acute asthma attack, in the second hour her arterial blood gases and acid-base disturbance are considered, in the third hour a smoker suffers from chronic obstructed pulmonary disease (COPD), and in the fourth hour a pregnant woman with mitral stenosis delivers an infant in respiratory distress. Lectures are presented by the author on zoom. Following each lecture extra readings from the author’s iBook series are suggested for students to further integrate their understanding of respiratory physiology with the physiology of other organ systems. Students are asked to answer two graphic essay questions for each case and 30 true/false questions in preparation for an examination at the completion of the course.
