Description

Queen Q's Quest is designed to help children understand that “qu” makes the /kw/ sound blend. She makes this sound in frustration, as in “Oh, kw!” throughout the story. Help your children notice the “qu” patterns in words and say the /kw/ sound as you read about her quest to find the perfect job. This is a good story to use a story board to explore narrative structure within short episodes. Queen Q (character) wanted a new job (problem) so her first (plan) was to sew quilts. But when she tried she pricked her fingers (attempt) so she quit (outcome) - “Oh, kw!” Repeat the story board pattern for all of her failed attempts. Do you think she ever found the perfect job? Predict the ending and then read to find out.
