Catherine (Kate) Greenaway was born on March 17, 1846, in Hoxton, England. She was an illustrator of children’s books and a writer. Her work changed the art of the picture book, influencing generations of illustrators and writers it her simple line drawings and coloured pictures of girls and boys playing. Her illustrations and writings reflect the essence of the childhood in Victorian period. She died of breast cancer on November 6, 1901.
