Description

This extensively-illustrated volume contains hundreds of images showing the diverse appearances of benign and malignant skin tumours.
Malignant lesions include basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma.
Benign lesions include melanocytic naevi, seborrhoeic keratosis, solar keratosis, dermatofibroma, epidermal naevi and papillomas, cutaneous horns, and pyogenic granuloma.
Skin cysts and lipoma are also covered, with a final chapter on treatment complications.

In many books on skin tumours, images are restricted to a few examples of any particular lesional type.
In practice, however, specific skin tumours appear in a great variety of guises, and benign lesions can often be mimicked by malignant lesions.
By presenting a large variety of clinical appearances for a given lesional type, and by displaying a number of similar-looking-but-histologically-distinct lesions alongside each other, close comparisons of different clinical conditions can be made. Such an approach emphasises how clinical appearances may be misleading to the unwary.

This work is an updated and extended edition of the highly-acclaimed hardback Skin Surgery in general practice ~ A Diagnostic Atlas.
Along with its companion books in the Minor Surgery series, it will be of great benefit to anyone who deals with skin lesions, especially doctors in primary care and dermatologists. It will also be a valuable tool for medical students and nurses.
