Description

Set in Robert A. Heinlein's Future History universe, REVOLT IN 2100 includes the author's short novel "IF THIS GOES ON--", his novella "Coventry" and story "Misfit", Heinlein's Future History charts, "Future History Letter Essay" and his Postscript "Concerning Stories Never Written".

"IF THIS GOES ON--"
John Lyle, West Point graduate and now serving as guard in the Prophet's stronghold, becomes disillusioned and
concludes that "secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny.  Not force, but secrecy...censorship." He joins an underground cabal to overthrow the US government. As part of the Second American Revolution, he learns much about courage, subversion -- a fellow conspirator tells John, "There is magic in words, black magic--if you know how to invoke it" -- and sacrifice.

"Coventry" is set years after the Second American Revolution, in a benevolent but strongly monitored new society, with its own rules and strong surveillance arm.

In "Misfit" a young genius averts a disaster during a mission to move an asteroid closer to Earth.

The author's Postscript on Future History stories he won't write provides an entertaining look at Heinlein's richly imagined world.

"There is no other writer whose work has exhilarated me as often and to such an extent as Heinlein."
- Dean Koontz

"One of the most influential writers in American Literature."
- The New York Times Book Review

"Heinlein wears imagination as though it were his private suit of clothes."
- The New York Times

"Heinlein… has the ability to see technologies just around the bend. That, combined with his outstanding skill as a writer and engineer-inventor, produces books that are often years ahead of their time."
- The Philadelphia Inquirer

"Not only America's premier writer of speculative fiction, but the greatest writer of such fiction in the world."
- Stephen King

"One of the grand masters of science fiction."
- The Wall Street Journal
