The Vietnam War was the longest military conflict in U.S. history. American involvement in Vietnam began in 1954 and ended in 1973 where more than 58,000 Americans lost their lives and more than 304,000 were wounded. Not since the Civil War had Americans been so divided on this unpopular war.
