After Ian Dury’s death, one of the band’s founder members, The Blockheads went through a difficult few years before reforming. Against the odds, they’re still touring now and playing to sell-out crowds. The line-up has changed over time, but this one really is the A-team: all the original surviving members, alongside Derek The Draw and John Roberts. I knew Ian back in the 80s. I never worked with him, but there was never a dull moment at his flat overlooking Hammersmith Bridge. I even employed his son, Baxter, for a short while as my assistant. Life has a habit of coming full circle if you stick around long enough. Having “access all areas” at this gig gave me the freedom to work exactly as I wanted. This book is the result. It documents their 2012 Brighton show, and if you’re a fan, I think you’ll enjoy it. David Levine
