The Duc De L´Omelette

A French aristocrat, the vain and extravagant Duc de L'Omelette, dies suddenly after choking on an ortolan. To his surprise, he awakens not in paradise but in Hell, where he confronts the Devil himself. With wit, arrogance, and refined manners, the Duc manages to turn the situation into a kind of social game. Instead of begging or suffering, he challenges the Devil to a game of cards—where the outcome will determine his fate.
