A recent dig at Birrenswark near Ecclefechan has challenged aspects of the Roman occupation.'Rediscovering Redesdale' is a multi-million pound HLF-funded project which in part aims to investigate, research and promote Otterburn Battlefield (1388).Hexham Old Gaol has recently benefited from a four-million-pound refurbishment scheme.The author is a consultant on all these projects and several others, which proves that interest in the border and in Scottish identity is very high.
