Two years after the war with the wizards ended, the world of Kodu Riik is falling apart.
Catastrophe after catastrophe strikes the kingdom and a horrific plague haunts the land. The dreadful carnage is compounded by drought and the strange, vicious predators that wipe out entire villages.
There are whispers that the Goddess has abandoned the world, while the death of the queen has turned the king recluse, leaving the country in the hands of his power-hungry son.
Reisil, a healer and a sorcerer, should be able to help cure the plague and destroy the monsters, but her magic refuses to work. The nobility suspects she's plotting to overthrow the government, and her friends have abandoned her—some seek to destroy her.
Now a mysterious enemy is on the hunt, attacking her mind and body. Desperate to help her people, Reisil turns to the enemy for help. All too soon, she learns the wizards aren't what she thought, and maybe she isn't either.
The survival of Kodu Riik hangs in the balance, and Reisil must choose if she'll be loyal to those who betrayed her, or if she'll become what she was meant to be all along.
What can she do when all hope seems lost, and not even the Goddess will answer her prayers?
