Description

In Words of Hope, Stephen Reese reflects on practical spirituality and the “path of faith” while aiming to unite head and heart. With an intellectually honest yet spirit-led approach, Reese addresses profound, universal questions rooted in everyday experiences. He explores the increasing challenges of living out faith principles in a difficult cultural landscape, tackling the impact of renewed fundamentalism in the church, which has alienated many, especially young people disenchanted with Christianity.
As a member of a divided denomination, Reese explores ways to remain authentic in his beliefs while being open to diverse views. Rather than proposing easy answers, he extends an invitation to those who seek the fruit of the spirit and yearn to understand the ultimately unknowable, yet infinitely loving God.

Stephen D. Reese is the Jesse H. Jones Professor at the University of Texas at Austin’s School of Journalism & Media.
