Description

Through my landscape photographs, I aim to make the invisible visible - to capture and reveal the often overlooked spaces that surround us. I am drawn to scenes that defy traditional landscape imagery, favoring the unexpected, abstract, and unconventional over classic views. Rather than scouting specific locations, I work in a spontaneously way. I typically discover landscapes during my daily travels on foot, bike or by car. I am constantly observing my environment with a fresh perspective, waiting for light, color and shapes to command my attention in surprising ways. With no predetermined plan, I react instinctively to my surroundings, utilizing an array of digital cameras and smartphones to quickly capture fleeting scenes. My images tend towards abstraction, playing with angles, framing and focus to transform the mundane into something eye-catching and unfamiliar. Through this exploratory approach, I strive to open viewers' eyes to the unnoticed beauty in seemingly banal places and everyday vistas. My landscapes urge a reconsideration of our visual surroundings and celebrate the profound lurking within the seemingly ordinary.
