Description

Jupiter is considered the most auspicious planet out of the nine planets considered in Vedic Astrology. Jupiter means Guru, also called Jeeva, the life force due to which life exists. It is the guru, gurutawakarshan, gravity that binds even the other four elements, fire, earth, air and water, and all these four elements function within the space created by Jupiter. Jupiter's element is Ether which is the space and the binding force (gravity) between various elements requisite for the existence of matter and life.
A positive Jupiter can bring good luck, spiritual interests, education, and knowledge about the scriptures. It represents wisdom, luck, intelligence, religion, high positions, optimism, learning, and skills. When Jupiter is well-placed in a person's birth chart, it can make them rich, wise, ambitious, skilled in various areas, creative, diplomatic, and successful. However, if Jupiter is malefic, it can cause problems with wisdom, wealth, and health, especially concerning digestion, liver, blood, and thighs. It can make the person less ambitious, confused, and less successful in life.
Jupiter rules over two Zodiac Signs, Sagittarius and Pisces. Jupiter is considered exalted at 15 degrees of Cancer. This means that when Jupiter is located at 15 degrees of Cancer in a natal chart, it is believed to express its positive qualities most strongly. Jupiter is considered debilitated at 5 degrees of Capricorn. If Jupiter is found at 5 degrees of Capricorn in a natal chart, it is thought to be in a weakened state, and its positive influences may be reduced. Jupiter Mooltrikona is the Sagittarius sign. Among the planets, Sun, Moon and Mars considered friends of Mercury, while the Saturn and Venus are considered as enemy. Mercury is considered neutral in their relationship with Jupiter. Jupiter has been given the status of a Guru, teacher in the Solar family.
Jupiter has three aspects, fifth, seventh and ninth and so it affects four houses of which are where it is posted and three houses which are under its aspect. The fifth aspect give the education, progeny, success in creative ideas. Seventh aspect is good for married life and upliftment of social status. The ninth aspect is good for father, luck, higher education, spirituality and philosophical ideas.
Jupiter is a slow-moving planet as compared to Mars, Earth, Venus, Mercury and Moon. Its results are delayed. Jupiter is a heavy and large planet and whatever house it is posted, the result of that house gets delayed. As per a few scriptures, Jupiter damages the signification of the house in which it is posted but gives strength to the house, its aspect. The dictum of "Karak Bhav Nashe" applies. This is in reverse to Saturn's placement and aspect regarding houses.
In this book, our focus will be covering the effects of Jupiter's placement in all twelve houses of horoscope or Vedic birth chart. We will not be considering the signs falling in that house as it will go beyond the scope of this book.
