The Jewels of Aptor

The Jewels of Aptor is a book by Samuel R. Delany, first published in 1962. Set in a post-atomic future where civilization has been reduced to a society resembling the Middle Ages, the book tells the story of Geo, a young student who takes a job as a sailor. On the ship, he meets a priestess of the goddess Argo who is on her way to Aptor, a mysterious land of mutants, to rescue her daughter, who has been captured by those who follow the dark god Hama.
