Description

Guitar in Perspective is the new way of visualizing the fretboard, making everything easier to visualize and memorize. I altered the standard chord chart from a vertically oriented flat 2 dimensional grid to a 3 point perspective graphic drawing with the illusion of 3 dimensions showing the fretboard and fingerings as seen from your playing position. I call it a Chord Sketch. I use this same format to represent scales. I call it a Scale Sketch. The chord and scale sketches are hand drawn with pencil. They are purposely designed to remove the mental, visual, and physical gymnastics associated with learning guitar.

There is an additional version of this book entitled Guitar in Perspective for Lefties!

Guitar in Perspective Book 1 is basic chords and scales, presented in three chapters, open chords, scales, and improvisation. Future editions will address intermediate and advanced chords and scales. Though it is fundamental and aimed at beginners, I have detailed explanations of all chord and scale sketches, including note names and the locations of the root, 3rd, and 5th. I also include some suggested practice routines and how to use and work with a metronome. Finally I introduce basic improvisation.

This book’s text, chord sketches, and scale sketches are sized for reading at arms length to five feet on a mobile device, tablet, laptop, or desktop in landscape orientation. Everything is easy to see on a music stand or similar surface without strain allowing you to get to work without distraction!

Mastering the content of Guitar in Perspective Book 1 will bring you up to the level of playing cover songs, playing with other musicians, sitting in on a blues jam, writing music, and playing in a band. Book 2 and 3 will contain advanced chords, scales, and concepts for players who desire additional coloration to their sound. The player you desire to become is a reciprocal relationship with what you need to learn.
