A Winter's Tale

Ellie Foreman comforts a neighbor who has lost her husband, but finds a lot more going on than a simple death. This  story was published in 2005 in the TECHNO NOIR anthology, edited by Eva Batonne and Jeffrey Marks. Although the anthology was released only a few years ago, it was pre-Facebook and Twitter. This story is also available in print and on audio in the Nice Girl Does Noir collection.
