Edward McKendree Bounds (1835-1913), a native of Missouri, was a clergyman of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.  He served as a chaplain in the Confederate armies and preached in Tennessee for much of his life.
Many of his eleven books focused on prayer, including Reality of Prayer.
