“Life. Love. Death. Identity. High school artist Ovid’s got a lot on his mind and he pours it all into the pages of his notebook. He recasts his classmates’ lives and loves as modern-day Roman mythology, while slowly revealing his own struggles with parents who need him to be the perfect son in the wake of his sister’s disappearance” — Palo Alto Children’s Theatre
In Around the Edges — Metamorphosis: Junior Year, authors and photographers Pease and Garappolo use intimate photographs and compelling narrative text to document the adaptation of Betsy Franco’s young adult novel to the stage. This includes the James Franco documentary film as it was being shot to chronicle unfolding of Metamorphosis as a play. Around the Edges captures the creative and collaborative processes among the playwright, director, actors, crew, film documentarians, and Children’s Theatre leadership — often in their own words — as Franco’s contemporary story is shaped into a theatrical performance.
