I didnt ever want to care about another human being again. It hurt too much; left me feeling too empty, too worthless. And so I decided for a second time that I was going to try to play the indifferent game.
I was too late though . . .
By the time Id decided, Id already been affected in ways I hadnt even realized. The virus had taken hold of me, mutating my identity and inner thoughts until they had transformed to almost complete self-abhorrence.
It had happened so slowly over the years that I hadnt even noticed it, and only now, in retrospect, do I realize how much my mind had changed in that time.
But for you to really understand, you would have to be able to read my mind.
