In adapting Louis Sachar's Wayside Schools novels for the theater, John Olive faced a huge challenge, what to leave out. He has done a masterful job. This two act play captures the zaniness of Wayside School while adhering to a fairly linear plot line (the original books were more like a collection of fables or vignettes). The resulting play will appeal to theatergoers of all ages. Fun to produce at any budget level.
