The man wore a funny hat and a thick red scarf. His nose was fat, red as a tomato, and people in his city began to call him "Tomato." Because he looked different, the idea grew that he was dangerous, perhaps a thief. Tomato had to flee, to disappear. What else could he do? When he could no longer bear to stay in hiding, help came from an unexpected quarter.
A story by Ursel Scheffler, magnificently illustrated with an elaborate love for detail by Jutta Timm.
