This is not the usual “New Age” tantric sex manual, but a deeply esoteric and traditional book, Tantra Shastra. The scene of this Tantra is in the Himalayas, the "Abode of Snow". Here in these lofty lands, encircled with everlasting snows, rose the great mountain, the Sapta Kula Parvata. There are still shown at Bhimudiyar the caves where the sons of Pandu and Draupadi rested, as did Rama and his faithful wife Sita. In these mountains Munis and Rishis lived. Here also is the Kshetra of Shiva Mahadeva, where His Spouse Parvvati, and where Mother Ganges also has her source. The paradise of Shiva is a summer land of both lasting sunshine and cool shade, the song of birds and bright, undying flowers. The air, scented with sweet fragrance, resounds with celestial music and song. It is not, however, necessary to go to the Himalayas to find Shiva. Shiva unfolds His doctrine with his particular Tantra.
