The Art of War (Special Edition) includes two classic works on the philosophy of war: The Art of War by Sun Tzu and The Art of War by Niccolò Machiavelli.
The former is an ancient Chinese military treatise where Sun Tzu devotes 13 chapters to different aspects of warfare ranging from military strategies and tactics to the philosophy of war. The latter is a treatise on military strategy and discipline written in a Socratic dialogue, which reveals Machiavelli’s military philosophy ranging from a focus on the necessity of a state militia and an armed citizenry to the importance of the military in order to protect society, art, and religion.
