Description

Cleverly done...
...in addition to iOS 5, Apple has launched iCloud on 12th October 2011. With just a few clicks, any user can now synchronize data on mobile devices such as iPhone or iPad with other devices or with the computer. It does not matter if you have a Mac or Windows PC.
You just need to have an Apple ID. With this, you can not only shop in the stores for music, movies, books and more (AppStore, iBookStore etc), but also make use of the many services that Apple launches. These services require an Apple ID but offer a many extra features to the user. In addition to FaceTime or iMessage, this includes primarily the free service iCloud.

Once the set up is complete, the data exchange takes place fully automatically via the Apple cloud. For example, if you take a photo with the iPhone camera, this will be immediately copied to the data cloud and is then available within seconds on your computer or iPad. Very simple!

The data synchronisation with data from Calendars, Contacts, Bookmarks etc works just as quickly and reliably.

Using iCloud is great fun. Apple‘s cloud is very easy to set up, works reliably and keeps your different devices up to date.

And the best thing is: iCloud is free, as long as you only require up to 5 GB data. If you want more, there are upgrades available at a reasonable price.

In this book, we will show you how easily you can create and configure an Apple ID and how you can then activate the iCloud service and use its many functions on different devices.

For data exchange between a mobile Apple device and a computer, we recommend using the free solution Dropbox, which we are also going to explain in this book. And last but not least, users who have previously been using Apple‘s MobileMe will find out how to migrate to iCloud.

Have fun experimenting and enjoy reading this book!
