Description

The American Revolution is well ingrained in the minds of every American, who grows up learning famous phrases like “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” and “We the People”. The narrative of the social and political rebellion against the British Empire that ended with 13 colonies forming the United States of America is a well known story. The colonies officially severed ties with the British Empire in July 1776 with the Declaration of Independence, but many documents that steered the colonies toward revolution came well beforehand. And of course, the work was not over when the war ended with effective American victory in October 1781, followed by formal British abandonment of any claims to the United States with the Treaty of Paris in 1783.
This collection of Documents of the American Revolution includes all of the essential documents that led to the revolution and forged the young nation. Included in the collection are well known documents like the Declaration of Independence to lesser known ones like the Articles of Confederation and the writings of James Otis.
This collection is specially formatted with a Table of Contents linking to each document and images of the authors.
