He has received several awards for his homicide work, including Officer of the Year 1990, 1991, and 1992, Investigator of the Year 1996, and was nominated for the National Association of Police Organization's Top Cop award in Washington D.C. in 1999.
For the past century Billy Stiles has remained an enigmatic character whose activities were hazy and often misrepresented. Much of the confusion was caused by authors who discovered new rumors about Stiles and enthusiastically passed them on to the reader as fact. Mike Howard's work is refreshingly different in that he has tirelessly and relentlessly followed his great grandfather's trail and presents the reader with the most complete and well- documented story of Billy Stiles yet written. If you enjoy reading about the old west and old west characters, you are in for a treat with Mike Howard's Billy Stiles: Chasing the Wind. (The Publisher.)
