Childhood trauma and abuse have repercussions that can last a lifetime, interfering with our ability to trust, hope, and love, forever casting a shadow over our perception of the world … and of ourselves. What’s worse is that so many people will spend their entire lives suffering in silence, afraid, ashamed, and feeling alone even when surrounded by family or friends
Nuta Miller was one of those people for most of her life. Having suffered horribly at the hands of her mother and step-father, she felt desperately alone—helpless and voiceless. Fortunately, prior to those abusive years, her grandparents had instilled in her a strong foundation of love and generosity, and a deep and abiding faith that helped her to survive. With their support, she was able to recognize and embrace the blessings that inevitably came her way. So she was able to become the sort of mother and protector for her own children that she wished she’d had herself.
Though everyone’s story is different, by sharing we exemplify the road to recovery for others to follow. Offering hope and perseverance, Resurrection of Innocence hopes to show that we are never truly alone.
