The book goes through the factors that affect indoor air quality in any built environment. To do this it is important to understand the already existing literature, standards, rules & regulations. What also would be attempted is to find out if there are any regulations in the bye-laws which talk about indoor air quality & indoor air environment. Following are the prime objectives:
1.Assessment of awareness regarding the IAQ.
2.Factors affecting indoor air quality.
3. Availability of codes & regulations guiding towards IAQ informed design.
4.Physical factors or architectural decisions that could affect the IAQ.
5.Role of the HVAC system.
6.Role of an architect.
There have been a few following limitations of the study:
1.Unavailability of the equipment to measure CO2, CO, formaldehyde, radon, ozone, oxides of nitrogen & sulphur & other pollutants.
2.Poor response from the occupants towards the survey.
The methodology of the study: The study is being conducted based on the PM2.5 & PM10 levels in the indoor air forming the basis of the quality of the air. This will be done through various case studies of various built environments. The major focus in this case studies will be their respective HVAC systems since in an enclosed built environment the HVAC system is majorly responsible for the kind of air circulated. Location of equipment will also be factored in to assess the decisions taken while the execution of the project.
