Note: This edition of the Ford Treasury of Favorite Recipes has been updated to include Metric equivalents.
Of all the pages in Ford Times, none are more eagerly read each month than those in the “Favorite Recipes of Famous Taverns” section. Both men and women find these pages, which feature leading restaurants and their selected recipes, of great interest—first as a source of fine recipes, and again as an authoritative restaurant guide when traveling.
Restaurants nominated for inclusion in our “Favorite Recipes” section are carefully selected by our Women’s Editor for pleasant atmosphere and good service as well as for enjoyable food. And, since occasionally establishments do change management, our editors regularly seek local confirmation of the continued high standards of those restaurants we have featured.
Thus when we came to compile this new and greatly expanded edition, we were able to draw upon hundreds of restaurants whose recipes have appeared in Ford Times’ pages in the past decade. Many of these were featured in “Favorite Recipes,” Volumes 1, 2 and 3—books which are now collectors’ items by virtue of popular demand. Over 450,000 copies of Volume 1, long out of print, were sold; similarly, the supply of successive editions has been completely exhausted.
So it is with pleasure that we are able to offer you this new collection. It is a larger book, with more complete indexing, more regional information. Once again its colorful pages will very likely be used—as were those from the previous volumes—in art classes as well as in the kitchen. This would please the artists who have delineated the restaurants and the chefs who have kindly cooperated in supplying their finest recipes.
We hope that this book and its information contribute to your pleasure when traveling as well as provide an adventure in good eating in your home.
A perennial favorite of millions of travelers who read FORD TIMES, the famous car owner’s magazine, is the section devoted each month to “Favorite Recipes of Famous Taverns.” Selected by the magazine’s editors with the aid of roving correspondents and Ford dealers, this section features outstanding eating places throughout America, together with their featured recipes. Successive collections of Ford “Favorite Recipes” have been published in book form—Volumes I, II, and III—but so great has been the public demand that they are now out of print—true collectors’ items.
It is with pleasure that “The New Ford Treasury of Favorite Recipes from Famous Restaurants” is here presented. Larger and more fully indexed, this volume contains a new compilation of FORD TIMES restaurant recipes, previously unpublished in book form, together with a handy traveler’s guide to about 600 outstanding restaurants included in the earlier volumes. Also included in this edition are more than 200 of the original artists’ illustrations from FORD TIMES.
