Alexander was getting ready to head to his favorite coffee shop, Espresso. He was getting ready at the
house, looking in the bathroom mirror, a towel wrapped around his waist and his clean clothes folded beside
the sink. Alexander had black hair that he liked to style with gel. Running a comb through his hair after
applying the gel, he smiled at himself in the mirror, his dark brown eyes looking back at him.
Alexander had a lot of friends who were girls, and for the longest time his parents thought he would settle down with one of them. That was until last year when he’d announced at Christmas dinner that he was gay. He remembered the look on his
mother's face, a look of shock and sadness, knowing that she wasn't going to have any grandchildren from
her only child. His father had stood up and left the room without saying a word. It had taken his father a long
time to talk to him again after the announcement. His mother had adjusted well after a week’s time.
