The Explore the Bible: Winter 2019 Daily Discipleship Guide helps students engage in group and personal Bible study.
The Winter 2019 study on Genesis 25-50 continues God’s story of redemption by focusing primarily on two descendants of Abraham: Jacob and Joseph. Students will see that the people through whom God chose to advance His plan of redemption were not very good people. Jacob spent much of his life lying and stealing from his own family in order to get ahead. And Jacob’s sons sold their brother Joseph into slavery out of jealousy.
Through the ups and downs of Abraham’s family, students will see that God did not leave His plan of redemption to chance. Despite His people’s failures, our God faithfully keeps His promises. He kept His promise to bless Abraham’s descendants, to make their name great, and to bless all nations of the earth through them. In a way, the roller coaster story of Abraham’s family is good news for students today—despite their failings and setbacks, they have an important part to play in God’s plan of redemption.
