Ray Taylor was a truck driver for 20 years, before deciding to chase his boyhood dream of working with horses. Unemployed, and In his early fifties, he took up racehorse training and went on to become one of the most respected and successful trainers in South Australia. Consistency, honesty and an uncanny ability to understand horses and treat each one as an individual, resulted in hundreds of winners for the Taylor stables. Most of his horses trained on the beach, or in the bush with the kangaroos. After ten years, 1500 runners and 800 trips to the races, Ray and his wife, Lenore, retired from horse training. They spent the next ten years towing a caravan all over Australia, before settling in Queensland.
