Fidel Castro 10 Speeches That Changed the World

Description

“A revolution is a struggle to the death between the future and the past.”

Fidel Castro was perhaps the most charismatic and controversial head of state in modern times.

Castro took power on New Year’s Day in 1959 serenaded by the Western media for toppling dictator Fulgencio Batista and promising democracy.

He soon revealed that his goal was to impose Communist rule.

He exiled clergy, took over Catholic schools and expropriated businesses.

Firing squads and dungeons eliminated rivals and dissenters.

A dictatorial pariah to many, he became a hero and inspiration for many of the world's poor, defiantly charting an independent and revolutionary path for Cuba over nearly half a century.

This collection of Castro’s speeches provide a revealing look into the mind and motives of a political and tactical genius who took everlasting delight in causing the United States to “turn tail and run,” after the crushing defeat of The Bay of Pigs invasion.

FIDEL CASTRO (1926–2016) was a Cuban revolutionary who governed the Republic of Cuba for 47 years as Prime Minister. Fidel towered over Cuba for decades, fiercely rebelling against the United States under a communist ideology that promised equality and happiness but produced very little of it, instead leading millions to flee the state he took over. Under his administration, Cuba became a one-party socialist state, industry and businesses were nationalized, and state socialist reforms were implemented throughout society.
