This book could just as well have been titled 'Witnessing God' for God alone is perfect. Add to that Plotinus's assertion that 'he who witnesses beauty becomes beautiful,' and we are deep into this book's character. As I read it, it dawned on me early on that I was in effect reading an icon, for I was not so much looking at its pages as seeing God through them.
