Edward Stratemeyer, also known as Lester Chadwick, was an American writer of popular juvenile fiction. He was born in 1862. He had Stratemeyer Literary Syndicate and it produced such books as the Rover Boys series, the Hardy Boys series, the Tom Swift series, the Bobbsey Twinsseries, and the Nancy Drew series. He graduated high school and then he began writing juvenile fiction. His first financially rewarding story was published in 1888, and he soon became a regular contributor to several boys' magazines.
