Lost in Track Changes is a project from if:book Australia that takes the personal and intimate craft of memoir and turns it over to the cut-and-paste transformation of remix culture, combined with a hint of old-fashioned parlour games.
Five writers have written a short piece of memoir, a vignette. Each work is then passed on to another author within the group, tasked with transforming the piece into something else. In the background, if:book tracks the changes. The newly minted remix is passed along again and so on until each of the pieces have passed through all five writers in the group.
This edition, designed by Megan Hoogenboom, allows the reader complete access not only to the original texts ad remixes produced by the authors, but the complete editing data between. It is a book that encourages you skip through the stories, turning the “track changes” on and off and to lose yourself in its many twists and turns.
