Too often the short story is regarded as merely a poor cousin of the novel, a weekend break for novelists - an assumption that demeans the short and neglects the fact that it has an anatomy all of its own. This anthology is a one-off experiment to show how much the short has in common with a very different literary form, the poem. Established and award winning poets from around Britain and the UK have been asked to 'interlope' into the unknown territory of the short - most of them for the first time and each bringing with them a new, poetic perspective as well as an intuitive feel for the snapshot's hidden narratives.
