Description

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a 2023 open world action-adventure game based on the Avatar film series, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft.[1] The game was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on December 7, 2023.[2] It is the second video game released for the franchise after Avatar: The Game (2009). It received generally positive reviews from critics. Played in a first-person perspective, players take control of a Na'vi orphan raised and trained as a soldier by the Resources Development Administration (RDA), before being put into suspended animation and waking up fifteen years later in an abandoned facility. The game's story is said to be partially tied to the films, while remaining standalone.[3] The game also supports 2-player cooperative multiplayer.[3] The player must embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen region of Pandora, discovering their origins and organizing the local Na'vi tribes to fight back against the RDA as they attempt to exploit the natural resources of the Western Frontier.[4] Pandora is a large open world divided into three distinct regions, with each having their own unique biomes, quests and inhabitants. The player can use "Na'vi sense" to highlight interactable objects, and vulnerable points of enemies. The player is equipped with both RDA weapons like assault rifles and shotguns, and Na'vi's weapons such as bows and arrows and spear throwers to combat enemies. As the players progress in the game and complete quests, they will unlock better gears, improving the player's combat performance. Ammo, throwables, and other consumerables can be crafted using materials collected in the wilds. Players can hunt animals in the game, though using firearms on them will ruin the crafting recipe.[5] Players can also gain "Clan Favor" by defeating the RDA, helping fellow Na'vi, and progressing in the game. They can be used to purchase rare weapons armor, and crafting materials.[6] The player character is very agile, being able to perform advanced acrobatic feats such as double jumping. The player character can also ride on a flying creature named ikran to quickly navigate the world.
