Four thousand two hundred and twenty-six days and counting. That’s how long I’ve battled cancer. Eleven years, over a quarter of my life, more than one tenth of a century, a decade plus, however you count it … it’s a long dang time! It’s crazy to think about now, but every day for the past 11 plus years I have been fighting a war. A war that threatens my place in this world. A war that is fundamentally growth inspiring on its best days and an utter s@#$-show on its worst. But it is a war worth fighting. This is the fight of a lifetime. It is the fight for my life, and I am a worthy opponent. My story, this book, has been a developing concept for eight years or so. I have been fighting this war so long that at least a dozen times I have either thought about it and or tried to put my story on paper. I’ve never been able to get it started until now. Every aspect of my life for the past 11 years has been affected by or created because of my cancer. Each chapter of my story is a summary of how cancer has impacted these areas of my life. Some are longer than others and some, more emotional and harder to write … but all have led me to where I am today, day 4,226. This book has been a long time coming. I am a SURVIVOR, and this is my story.
