Whether you are a novice pilot, learning the ropes while flying a G1000-equipped Cessna 172, or an experienced pilot, who hasn’t flown the G1000 for a while, you will benefit from running the exercises in this book. As a flight instructor you might benefit by just pointing out particular exercises to your students as home work assignments.
This book focuses on getting all those wonderful features of the G1000 into your muscle memory. Having read a good introduction to the G1000 – and perhaps the 700+ pages Pilot's Guide – will usually not prepare you for the real cockpit experience. After all, in the cockpit you don't have time to consult your reference manual. This book will guide you through a series of exercises that you can perform on the G1000 Trainer Software (not included) and will help you prepare by “desk top flying” various real life scenarios. On the way, it will reveal the more subtle points of the concepts behind the G1000. Each exercise is structured in three parts: A problem statement, a solutions part, and an in-depth section. Screen shots from the G1000's PFD and MFD will keep you on-track while running the exercise sessions. For easy reference, all exercises are grouped by phase of flight.
