This poem, written in 1844, was originally known as “A Visit from St. Nicholas”. It is filled with original artwork from the mid-19th century. Brook Forest Voices added music, sound effects and narration by Christian Andrade to immerse the reader in the magic of Christmas.
Clement C. Moore originally claimed authorship, but later the family of Henry Livingston, Jr. - a solder, landowner, and poet who died in 1828 - disputed Moore’s claim and argued that the poem was Livingston’s. Recently, computer-aided analysis found more similarities to Livingston’s writings than to Moore’s.
