Description

The Reverend Mortimer Chester was born into a family of “Boston Brahmins” in 1892, projected a subtle aloofness, conveyed an image of classy sophistication and spoke with a precise Bostonian accent.  His wife, Miriam Freeman Bispham’s mother’s family immigrated from Germany to Philadelphia in 1686; her father from Antigua to Philadelphia in 1860. Mortimer was a non-stop over achiever and a physically robust adventurer. Miriam Freeman Chester was a strict and fearsome grandmother with a sharp tongue and wicked sense of humor.
