Kris is facing big changes in his life. His father has just passed away from pancreatic cancer, leaving him his film studio, home, and fortune. And while all of that sounds good, it is overwhelming for a 25-year-old man to take on. Instead of immediately rising to the challenge, he feels overwhelmed and lost in his grief.
Cammie is also facing steep obstacles, but hers come from a lifetime of poverty. Despite having been valedictorian of her high school class, college was not in her future. Instead, Cammie studied real estate independently and recently received her license. Now, she is out to prove to the world that she is good enough.
The two meet when he decides to purchase a home and eventually sell his father’s in order to get away from the memories. But this professional relationship quickly turns personal, and the two end up enjoying dinners out and nights in together. But when an angry coworker realizes this, he turns her into the bosses and gets her fired, ensuring she will never work in real estate in her city again.
It could easily be the end of the fairy tale, but Kris decides to make a documentary about Cammie, giving her some income and the chance to learn more about a new line of work. But when she sees the angle he chooses, turning her mother into a villain, she calls off the documentary and their relationship. Is this something that can be repaired, or is their relationship doomed?
