My e-book looks closely at various porn arrests during the 1950s and 1960s until 1969. By the late 1960s courts had become more lenient concerning the sale of literature and photos. What was considered smut only years before, had become less taboo. Nevertheless, a Times Square adult bookstore owner was convicted in 1966. The same man, Edward Mishkin, was the subject of a smut bust once more in 1969. Most of the arrests and busts I've profiled occurred in New York. There were significant raids conducted on booksellers and even record stores throughout the United States, however.
