The story, Stay in Line, introduces the skills of impulse control through the adventurous tale of a foraging expedition and the antics of the overly energetic character - Alfie. Alfie breaks the rules of the foraging expedition without stopping to think about the consequences of his actions. His boundless energy and intrusive behaviours get him into a spot of trouble. But all is not lost! With the help of Hoppy, the wise and helpful ant, Alfie learns to use his self-talk to attend to instructions, to manage his ‘bounce’, and to control impulsive actions through patient waiting. In this story, children learn about energy control, focused listening, and the importance of self-talk to guide behaviours.
